Since you don't mention pain shooting [radiating] anywhere else, there are three possibilities... a) muscle pain, b) ligament strain pain, or c) kidney pain. I guess gunshot wound would be rather obvious, eh?!

Basically one thing. There is only so much anatomy in that area. When people present with pain in the left lower quadrant it is often caused by diverticuli. Diverticuli is always preceeded by constipation. You should also rule out infection in the area too.
