Before you take the Chevy in for a diagnostic test, you can look at the fuse box and see if the fuse is burnt for the brake lights. If so, go to some place like AutoZone or O'Reilly's and sometimes someone there will even help you find and replace a fuse. Also, it would be odd if both brake light bulbs burned out at the same time, but not impossible.

Bad socket? Bad ground? Problem in steering column switch?
headlights
have chevy chyenne 4.3L, truck runs great but have lighting problems, no headlights, breaklights or reverse lights, looked for fuse but none listed in box, checked for power at the switch plug all good but none at lamp, have parking lights, turn signals, hazord lights and tail lights....
i found it to be the tail light harnesses go bad . a common problem with them because the bulb sockets short out.
I always start with the basics.......fuses. Then go to bulbs...... Look in your fuse panel and see if you have one marked tail lights......and check it. the brake, headlights and signals work off another circuit.
i was wondering whether the switch at the parking brake could affect this problem.
Check for bad ground
Perhaps you need to check a fuse.
It has a flasher relay for the signals only.
Yes, my uncle has a Chevy lumina and the headlights are always on,its andomatic
Headlights are not to stay on all the time, only front parking lights.
The headlights on a 96 Chevy Silverado are adjusted by turning the screws on the top and side of the headlights. It allows the lights to be adjusted for optimal night vision.
