If you really mean it flushes but the water does not run away, then the septic tank is plugged.

Drain line clogged. Toilet itself may be problem.

Maintaining Your Septic System?

Performing routine septic tank maintenance will prevent your septic tank from backing up and flooding your yard. If a septic tank backup happens, it could cost you thousands of dollars to fix. Use a septic tank kit that you can pour down the toilet once a month. It will contain the necessary enzymes needed to breakdown solid waste material inside the septic tank, keeping fluid flowing freely through the drainpipe. Avoid disposing of materials such as Q-tips, tampons or excessive toilet paper, as these items will clog your system and are hard to break down. Consider using septic system safe toilet paper.

What are the important things that you need to consider when you are installing a septic tank?

There are certain things that you need to consider when installing a septic tank. They are as follows, please make sure you check with local building codes, as they could apply when installing a septic tank. It is a good idea to get familiar with septic tank cleaning services that are available in the area. Do research about how many feet deep the hole for the septic tank needs to be and how often the system needs to be used, as this determines the how many gallons your septic tank should be able to hold.

What is the smell coming from outside when you have your own septic system?

Your septic system could be backed up and that is why you are smelling a foul smell. The best thing to do is to call a septic system business and have them come out and take a look at your septic system, if you think that is what is causing the foul smell.

Sink drains fine and the toilet flushes but the bathtub fills?

I had this happen to me then eventually my toilet started overflowing the contents of my septic tank. SUCH FUN TO CLEAN! If you on a septic tank and this is happening you may need to have it pumped or have your drain line checked. what happened to me was my drain line was pinched and couldn't disperse my gray water, so my septic filled way too fast and eventually burped. I now use RidX once a month and it keeps the gurgles at bay.If you are not on a septic system, CALL A PLUMBER ASAP, it could be a back up but having the sewer come back in on you would likely be way worse!the main reason the tub/toilet are effected together is they are the last things on the drain line.

Can a basement floor drain be tapped into to run the drain from a nearby newly installed basement toilet into it?

If you just plan on putting the toilet on top of the floor drain the answer is no. The floor drain if it leads to a septic system or city sewer would have a trap in the line which will not work with a toilet. Depending on the size of the pipe 3" minimum you could cut the floor and tie a toilet into the line. It would also have to be properly vented. I would consult a plumber on the job. Its also possible that the floor drain just goes to a dry well which could not be used. Even if it could not be used there are other ways to install a toilet below the septic or sewer line.

Is it good for ground level water to go into septic tank?

not really as septic tanks are designed to separate solids and liquids. they are then connected by a pipe to a leech field which deals with the liquids.... so if ground water runs in, it could saturate the leech field such that it QUITS leeching-and now you have stinky mess rolling out the top of the septic tank. Even a running toilet is a big concern for the same reason.

Is the Insinkerator 'Septic Assist' garbage disposal really safe for a septic system?

Yes, Insinkerator uses a Bio-charge system to inject microorganisms into the disposal when it is in use. Waste is broken down by these microorganisms in your septic system which helps keep you septic system functioning properly. I recently purchased a septic disposal from www.overstock.com. Overstock had the cheapest price I could find on the internet and shipping was only $2.95.
