What could be wrong if a 1997 Ford Contour won't start or turn over after replacing the lower radiator hose?
Look to see if the ignition plug to your starter did not come loose or un plugged. Since this is on the same side, possible disconnect of the starter ignition wire became disconnected
What could cause a 1996 Ford Contour 4 Cylinder to run hot A bad Radiator or water pump you replaced the thermostat the Antifreeze leaks but not from radiator Lower hose or water pump?
If you are replacing radiator hoses, make sure to drain coolant first There are 2 hoses upper and lower hose looking down in front of the engine: you have to remove the air duck funnel that is attached to the radiator, upper hose should become more visible lower hose is located on the left side of the radiator fan
99 dodge grand caravan you replaced the lower radiator hose but it is still leaking where could the leak be coming from?
being a technician, i have never located one! we hook a machine up to the upper radiator hose or you can disconnect the heater hose located under the car on the passenger side, but that's quite a mess. well u have to take the lower radiator shield off, the drain can be taken out with a flat head screw driver the plug is right below the lower radiator hose
Three main reasons for replacing a radiator are 1) it leaks and replacing the radiator cap, hoses/clamps and making sure the drain valve at the bottom is complely shut hasn't stopped the leaks, 2) lots of rust on the lower half, especially on the cooling fins and at weld points where hoses connect, or 3) a radiator flush machine at your oil change shop shows that the flow through it is badly restricted due to…
Follow the upper rad hose to the engine and it is in the housing there. When replacing it make sure the spring goes toward the engine. In a 2.2L engine the thermostat is inside the lower radiator hose. Where the lower radiator hose attaches to the engine there's a metal housing. Undo the two bolts and separate the two halves of the housing, the thermostat is inside.
Lower radiator hoses in water cooled engines are return lines. The upper radiator hoses are feed lines of hot engine water to the radiator. The reason that lower hoses are cooler is that the radiator has allowed much of the water's heat to dissipate into the air. Thus, a lower radiator hose contains cooler water than other radiator and heater hose lines.
take off the plastic covers under the front of the engine. then you will see a small hose on the passnger side of the car that runs down from the lower radiator hose around the passenger side of the engine. simply use pliars to loosen the clamp and pull off that hose. make sur to have a bucket there, and the fluid won't drain good until you remove the radiator cap under the hood.
The Contour/Mystique radiator mounts from the bottom - find the brackets at each end held to the sub-frame with 2 10mm bolts per bracket. Kind of a tough job due to the lack of room to access the various components attached to the radiator. A couple of notes: Automatic transmission lines are 17mm - Cooling fan assembly attaches with 2 10mm nuts - lift up to release from clips and push towards the engine Disconnect…
