First how old are you? Depending by your age it could be just your body changing. dark brown blood means that you are bleeding slowly. If it was bright red it would mean you are bleeding fast. If you are going thru cramps as well I would suggest to put a tampon in and soak in as hot of water as you can stand. Sometimes it could be a clot stuck in there and hot water even a hot water bottle will disolve it. hot that helps.

If you have just started puberty 4 months ago it takes 6 months to a year before your hormones settle into a regular cycle. The same thing happens again when you hit menopause when you are older. If you are sexually active you NEED to use protection because it is hard to track when you ovulate at this stage. Since you are young I hope you are not sexually active yet.

As soon as you become sexually active again. Or you can wait a few months and get your partner to wear a condom.
I started the pill this summer and had very light periods the first 2-3 months and was not sexually active, so I'm pretty sure it's just the pill. I think, however, it depend some on what kind of pill you are taking. (There are only 2 days a month that I have absolutely no hormones from the pill.) !
You don't need to do anything when your period doesn't start. Sometimes women miss periods or their periods are delayed, if sexually active you should take a pregnancy test to determine if you could be pregnant, otherwise an occasional late or absent period is normally nothing to worry about. If you go over three months without a period then talk to your doctor to rule out problems.
If you were sexually active 5 months ago, your pregnant. Congratulations. Otherwise, you could be too underweight or overweight. Your body needs to have a healthy amount of fat reserves in order to release an egg so that both of you can survive, and too much can cause problems. Either way, try eating a little healthier.
