The Power Steering is actually ELECTRIC steering on this car Most common and basically only failure is 2 30 amp fuses in underhood fuse block Only other thing is mechanical and would set a trouble code and sat power steering on your dash
FYI. Jump Starting your car from the +- Terminals found near the FUSE box under the hood, will Blow the Fuses for the Power Steering.
Always Jump start your car from the Battery Terminals in the Trunk
I don't know if you will get this, but there has now been a recall issued for the 2004 Saturn Ion regarding failures in the power steering. Contact your Saturn dealer; they may be providing a free repair.
Could be a worn belt, failing power steering pump or low power steering fluid.
Could be a broken Power Steering belt or low fluid level or power steering pump failure.
there is no fluid, they have electric power steering.
There probably is no power steering fluid in the 05 Saturn. Saturn employs an electric assisted power steering system that still has a rack and pinion, but is electrically operated. A much easier, more bulletproof design in my opinion.
no. mine does not have power steering and it's a 1999 sl1
To replace the power steering rack on a Saturn Ion, You must first dissmantle the current steering rack by accessing the main hood, and from there you can screw the new steering rack into place
The power strg unit is in the column yes....It is electric power strg. The steering rack remains the same
Failure of the power steering system.
You don't. Saturn Ions don't use a hydraulic power steering system. They use an electric power steering system using a small electric motor to provide steering assistance. If you have any problems with the power steering, take it to a GM dealer. GM had many problems with it, so they extended the power steering warranty on all Saturn Ions, Chevy Cobalts, Chevy HHRs and Pontiac G5s to 10 years or 100,000 miles.
I have a 2006 Ion - the power steering went out. My dealer said that this was a common problem - Saturn was working on a recall. They took care of replacing the steering column - no charge.
The power steering reservoir is on the passenger side behind the engine compartment.
The power steering is controlled by the body control module. There is no fluid.
Yes, most of all modles of any car comes with power steering.
there is no power steering fliud because your power steering is electric steering.there is no fluids nor is there a pump...all electrical
Leaking power steering rack. If only power steering was an option and you could buy one without it! Why they have to put power steering on such a small car is beyond my comprehension.. Unfortunately, a leak means an MOT failure, even though you could go for years topping it up.
Power Steering Belt could be loose or worn. Power steering pump could be low on fluid.
Power steering pump failure is a common cause of poor steering on a 94 Toyota Land Cruiser. The seals can allow leaks and air to enter the system over time which prematurely causes failure.
The ATF power steering fluid is usually used for the Saturn SL 1. The Mobil 1 automatic transmission fluid can also be used.
Generally, any power steering fluid type works in a 2002 Saturn. This is as long as it meets the specifications of GM Spec 9985010.
No/low steering fluid, loose drive belt, crushed or blocked hydraulic pipe, pump failure
I believe there is none, it has an Electronic power steering. They replaced mine on my 2003 ION.
Power steering is not electrical. It is driven by an engine belt that turns a hydraulic pump.
Your Vue has electric steering therefore there is no pump. If you have no power strg you have an electrical problem........with the power steering unit or wiring to it. Troubles codes can be read for the steering to help in diagnostics
It doesn't. Saturn Ions don't use a hydraulic power steering system. They instead use an electric power steering system which uses a small electric motor to provide steering assistance. If you are having trouble with the power steering, take it to any GM dealer to have it serviced.
