There were a number of republics, but nearly all were city states or cities. Republican government was used in the free cities of the Holy Roman Empire, but they were subject to the emperor. No countries really use limited monarchy, but countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and others use monarchy while also using another form of government.
