The only three countries who do not use the metric system as their primary system of measurement are the United States, Liberia and Burma (Myanmar). Other countries have adopted the system but do not use it in all cases, for example road distances and speeds are still measured in miles and miles per hour in the United Kingdom.

However, it's not completely true that the US does not use the metric system. Medicines and sciences are pretty much exclusively in metric. Most cars in the US now are built with metric measurements (nuts, bolts, ext.). This just makes sense if you want to sell your car to other countries. Everybody in the US knows a 2L soda bottle.
Most European countries use the metric system. In actuality, almost every country other than the Untied States uses the metric system.
