Fort Ticonderoga was built by the French army in upstate New York. It was eventually captured by the British army in 1759. During the American war of Independence is was captured by the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont but was later recovered by the British.

France originally built it in 1755 and they originally named it Fort Vaudreuil, but on May 10, 1775, the Colonists captured it from the British and renamed it Fort Ticonderoga.
