Japan : Hiroshima & Nagasaki were the cities destroyed.
I have heard also that some small Pacific islands were completely vaporized by hydrogen bomb tests during the 1950s, including Bikini Atoll and Elugelab Atoll (the swimwear got its name after the explosion destroyed the island).
In addition, I recently learned that the first hydrogen bomb (fusion bomb) test in the South Pacific was about twice as powerful as scientists anticipated. Although the evacuated area was still large enough to keep anyone from being harmed by the larger blast, the extra fallout was suddenly an unanticipated threat to the people of the Marshall Islands, and the U.S. government had to rush over and start evacuating them. I don't know how much harm was done to the people of the Marshall Islands, but I do know that the Marshall Islands has a national holiday to honor its atomic victims.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then Russia declared war on Japan then they surrendered! The end.
The first atomic bomb was exploded in the middle of a desert in New Mexico. You are probably thinking of the test explosion done after World War II at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific.
Japan - Nagasaki and Hiroshima
Nagasaki and Hiroshima
July 16, 1945 just before dawn.
When the Soviet Union exploded an atomic bomb, the US response was to increase its own arsenal and its own testing of nuclear weapons.
The very first atomic bomb was exploded in a test in the New Mexico desert on July 16, 1945. If you'd like to look up more information about it, you can look up the codename "Trinity".
The 1st atomic bomb codenamed the "Gadget" was exploded on July 16, 1945 SW of Socorro, New Mexico. It was an implosion type bomb using Plutonium 239. It was a test of nuclear bombs codenamed the "Trinity" test. The 2nd atomic bomb codenamed "Little Boy" was exploded on August 6th, 1945 over the city of Hiroshima in Japan. It was a gun type bomb using Uranium 235. It was the 1st bomb dropped in anger. The 3rd atomic bomb codenamed "Fat Man" was exploded on August 9th, 1945 over the city of Nagasaki. Like the Gadget it was an implosion type bomb using Plutonium core.
The first atomic bomb was launched in 1945, by the US. It incinerated Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan during WWII The above is half true. That was the first time an atomic bomb was used in war, but the first atomic bomb was detonated at the the Trinity Site in White Sands Missile Range, on July 16, 1945.
fartland
The first exploded over Heroshima, the second over Nagasaki.
The first atomic bomb used against mankind exploded at 8.15 over Hiroshima.
8.15 am
July 16, 1945 just before dawn.
USSR
It was a plutonium implosion type. So it was an atomic bomb.
When the Soviet Union exploded an atomic bomb, the US response was to increase its own arsenal and its own testing of nuclear weapons.
It was in 1949 that the Soviet Union exploded an atomic bomb, and the communists gained control of China. Both of these events were worrisome to the U.S.
Pakistan
The first bomb exploded, the Trinity test bomb, used plutonium. The first bomb deployed, dropped on Hiroshima, used uranium 235. The second bomb deployed, dropped on Nagasaki, used plutonium 239.
the first atomic bomb leveled nothing. That was exploded at the Trinity test site. The first bomb used in war was at Hiroshima Japan, and pretty much destroyed everything in a 3 mile radius. That is just over 7 square miles.
