Switzerland is known as the "playground of Europe" a title that it was given by English writer Leslie Stephen in 1870. An avid travelers and climber, Stephen was referring to the mountain climbing and trekking that are readily available throughout the country. Even today this moniker is still accurate, Switzerland remains one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Switzerland is one of the beautiful countries. It is located in the Central Europe. The borders of Switzerland touch Germany to the north,France to the west,Austria to the east and Italy to the south. The climate varies with altitude. It has cold, cloudy, rainy and snowy winters, and cool to warm, cloudy, humid summers with occasional showers.

Mountains of the Switzerland are very popular, Alps in south and Jura in northwest. It has a central plateau of rolling hills, plains and large lakes. The highest point is Dufourspitze at 4,634m while Lake Maggiore is just 195m above sea level. Switzerland is unequalled and outstanding country.

You will get some of the really best Swiss experiences involving incredible mountains and lakes, stunning sports -- summer or winter, lively towns, stylish, quaint hillside villages, and all tied together with an efficient transport system. Switzerland is well known for its terrific beers, rich food and amazing

pastries and chocolates.

Bern is a tiny, quiet, riverside elegance and is the capital of Switzerland. View the old town's cobbled streets and arcaded buildings date from the 11th Century to 18th Century. In the south of Bern, the Lake Thun area affords castle freaks the opportunity to pleasure themselves repeatedly on 12th and 13th Century fortifications.

Geneva is situated at the southwest tip of the Lake Geneva and near France. It is well cultured and metropolitan. It offers numerous museums and beautiful architecture including the old town. Lausanne is situated on the other side of the lake. It is stylish and pleasantly walkable and alive with varied street action and nutty cafes. Zurich is gorgeously located astride a river, boxed in by Lake Zurich and distant snowy mountains. So, Switzerland is the playground of Europe.
