London is bordered by Kent, Surrey, Middlesex, and Essex.

Other Home Counties are Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, East Sussex and West Sussex, but these counties do not directly border London - there are one or more of the above 4 (Kent, Surrey, Middlesex or Essex) in between.

Middlesex hasn't existed as a county for several years having been absorbed into Greater London. The counties that surround London are Kent, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex.
