If the engine is a 4 cylinder it is an interference motor and and there is most likely there is severe damage caused by the valves hitting the pistons. The 6 cylinder is a noninterference motor and should be OK. You will still have to line all the timing marks up to replace the belt.
Your car has a timing belt. It must be changed every 90,000 miles or it may break resulting in expensive engine damage.
Age or damage from a failed pulley.
Did the belt slip or break? Is it a maintenance 60K deal? I'd say, if you removed it, put it back the same way. If it broke, you're in serious trouble.
Yes... when the timing belt breaks... the valves will bend and/or break. All Honda's do that!
There is no timing belt. It is a timing chain. I have 130,000 miles and have not had any trouble. It will start making noise when it is time. Unlike timing belts which will break, timing chains wear out slowly.

yes!!!! if your timing belt is cracked or split, you should get it in asap! if your timing belt has broken the damage done all depends on what happened to break it/what were you doing when it broke? if you were driving when it happened ( not stopped) there will be extensive damage done if your car was on but you were stopped not as much damage.
No. A 302 or 5.0L is a non interference engine...if that it what it has
Usually if the timing belt breaks you have to replace the head or the bent valves. Sometimes the damage can be much worse and the entire engine can be wiped out. When the timing belt breaks, your cams and valves stop moving but the pistons don't. The pistons will smash against the stopped valves and bent them and on some occasions can break pistons as well.
Because the Accord 1991 has an interference engine, the pistons will hit the valves and either bend them or break them or both if the timing belt breaks.
Ha yes timing belt breakage in any car can cause damage to the engine... things like bent valves, scored cylinder walls and possible engine failure. That is why the idea is to replace timing belts before they break.
YES, the Honda engine is considered an interference engine, which means that the valves will come in contact with the piston if the belt breaks. under rare circumstances if the car is idiling i have seen the belt break and not hurt the valves. hope this helps It is very likely, if you have broken your timing belt. IF you notice it right away and bring the car to a complete stop immediately-- include turning off the engine--you may escape engine damage. This is not a guarantee though.
