CIA employees represent a wide variety of disciplines from an even broader mix of academic backgrounds and experience. Therefore, we don't recommend one academic track over another in general.

The Agency's personnel requirements change from month to month as positions are filled and others become available. Our best advice to you is to do your very best and strive for good grades. Fluency in a foreign language is a good addition. Above all, understand that your choices and behaviors now are a reflection of your personal integrity, character and patriotism.

The CIA website indicates the following criteria for employment:The Clandestine Service (CST) Program is for applicants who have

• a minimum of a bachelor's degree
  
• several years of substantive business/work or military experience before applying,
  
• 26-35 year age range.
  

Minimum requirements include:

• a bachelor's or master's degree and a strong academic record, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or better, and
• a strong interest in international affairs.
• solid interpersonal and communications skills
• the ability to write clearly and accurately.
• Foreign travel and area knowledge, prior residency abroad
• cross-cultural sensitivity, and
• foreign language proficiency (particularly in the critical languages of Arabic, Chinese, Dari, Indonesian, Korean, Pashto, Persian, Russian, Somali, Turkish, Kurdish and Urdu) are highly desirable.
• Degrees of interest include, but are not limited to, international business, finance or international relations, economics, physical science or nuclear, biological or chemical engineering.
