What did Cleopatra die from?

she committed suicide with the bite of an asp. An asp is an Egyptian snake and very poisonous--at least that's what the romantic novelists would have you believe. In reality, it is not known how Cleopatra died. Even the ancient writers admit this and they say that she died of some type of poison. Recently research has been done on this subject and the conclusion is that she died of a cocktail of three poisons. There are several reasons why she could not have died by snakebite. Incidentally, the myth of her dying by snakebite was begun by Octavian himself.
