Besides being a big part of the Underground Railroad to help slaves escape, Harriet Tubman was also involved in the fight for women's suffrage. Also, when John Brown was planning his raid on Harpers Ferry, Harriet helped him recruit men to help him pull it off. As it turned out, the raid failed, and Brown ended up being sentenced to death by hanging. Harriet didn't participate because she was sick at the time.
First, Harriet Tubman was born a slave in Dorchester County in Maryland. She worked on her master's plantation until the age of 30. At 30, she escaped to freedom on the Underground Railroad. She returned multiple times bringing more people to freedom. Over all, she helped more than 300 slaves. Then, slavery ended. Harriet then worked as a nurse, spy, and soldier. She then died in the year of 1913.
