∙ 12y ago· The reasons of the Spanish Armada is: Queen Elizabeth was robbing and taking treasure of the Spanish treasurer ships and also from ' the new world' (which today is called South America) which belonged to Spain.
Another reason is that she sent her best sea dog (what she called her sailors) Sir Francis Drake to burn and destroy 30 of King Phillip's royal ships.
Elizabeth was encouraging countries under King Philip's rule to rebel and become protestant.
Another motive is that Elizabeth was both protestant and a woman and she was making King Phillip look stupid in front of some very important people at that time.
Queen Elizabeth had executed Mary Stuart who had gone to her asking for help because she was being chased from her country who she ruled over, which was Scotland, after angering her people. However Elizabeth didn't want Mary in her country because she was Catholic and was also the next legal heir to the throne of England.
Phillip was being sponsored by the Pope so the war became a 'Holy war' and also King Phillip thought that God was on his side.
