Plato brought forth and gave his answers to the basic questions that philosophers have discussed over the centuries even to the current day. For some philosophers his answers and approaches to the problems that philosophy has faced and still faces today are meaningful. Important contributions of Plato concern political philosophy and the intangible ideas concerning reality. A brief summary of his work is that he continued to not be satisfied with the ideas of the past and pushed forward the importance of philosophy itself.

A never to be overlooked accomplishment of Plato is his building upon the ideas of Socrates. Plato was a student of Socrates and had a huge influence on Plato. Plato gives us insights into Socrates that we would never have known as Socrates never put into writing his ideas on life.

Plato has commentaries on a huge number of philosophic ideas that philosophers and students of philosophy that remain current and meaningful. His accomplishments are his ideas on:

1. Justice

2. Religion and culture

3. The soul of man

4. Knowledge

5. History

6. Goverment

7. The after life

8. Reality
