Yes He joined the Air Force and became a pilot
Roald dahl made up words to make the book more interesting.
His early career as a salesman for Shell Petroleum in Africa was interrupted by World War II; Dahl joined the Royal Air Force as a pilot, saw action, and ended up as a liaison in Washington, D.C. There he met the author C.S. Forester, who encouraged Dahl to write about his war experiences.
I think Roald Dahl is using this story to talk about how children are brought up in different families.

Nothing. Roald Dahl did not write Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling did.Dahl died the same year J.K. Rowling came up with the idea and seven years before it was published. He would never have heard of the series.
because he used to make up stories for his children before bed

He lived in Wales until the age of nine, and afterwards went to boarding schools in England.
Roald Dahl did not dislike the cinema. He actually wrote a couple of screenplays himself, including a James Bond movie. I believe this question comes up a good deal because of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Dahl wrote the beginings of the screenplay, but it was taken over and heavily rewritten by another screenplay author. Dahl was so dissapointed in the movie that he stated he disowned it.
No Character spoke backwards but the BFG made up words!
