There were banquets that nobles hosted with singers, dancers, and musicians. They also played games. One is a game called Senet. People played a game on a boat where one team grabs a bunch of long poles and try to push the other team overboard. Some nobles hunted for a sport. Some people fished for relaxation. There are two other Board Games but I don't know much about them. There names are Hounds & Jackels and Mehen.
Like members of nearly all civilizations, ancient Egyptians also enjoyed games and hobbies. Egyptian children as well as adults played lots of games and took part in many different activities that many people still enjoy today, such as playing hockey, hunting or listening to music.
Not all of the Egyptians had time for entertainment, but when they did have time for it, they would spend it wisely. Ancient Egyptians liked to listen to music or play it themself. Popular instruments included drums, flutes, harps and trumpets. Ancient Egyptians also enjoyed watching and taking part in theater such as religious performances, or dancing. For people with education (which was approximately 5% of Egyptian households), reading was their favorite choice to kill some time.
Other hobbies known to be enjoyed by ancient Egyptians include hunting, fishing, drawing, writing, cloth weaving, pottery and basketry making, hockey (with sticks made from tree branches and pucks made from papyrus layered between two pieces of leather), Wrestling, tug-of-war, running, Fencing, swimming and gymnastics. Young children also enjoyed indoor games such as marbles, some ball games and dolls.
