The civil war affected children because they were eager to fight in the war the civil war was an adventure to them that they even lied about their name and age just so they can fight in the war. the boys that were 15 or older actually did get to fight the boys younger than that were usually served as drummer or bugle boys they usually died because they were easily shot at marching in front. According to the pyschology, most children would be affected by the death of their loved ones. A lot of the children were sheltered throughout the war. Sometimes their families would be split up because family members would pick sides. A lot of children were still able to maintain their innocence by playing games like cup and ball, graces, or hanky. They were still able to remain in school. INNOCENCE?????

Mostly young children were musicians who played drums in the battle.Other times they were the 16 year old boys who were drafted. Especially in the South they were. Also some women disguised themselves as men to serve in the war on both sides. The kids were frequently used as spies to get info. from the enemy by just plain walking by.

Kids (mostly teens) were very popular in the Civil War. Both armies were packed with kids. Most kids played the role of drummer. The job of the drummer was to kind of tell an army what to do. It was an important job. Some teens, very few though, even used weapons and fought in battle!
