Dr. Charles Richard Drew helped develop blood banks during World War 2. He proved that blood plasma lasts longer than whole blood. He became the first director of the American Red Cross Blood Bank, and tried to educate the public that blood banks do not need to be segregated by race.
He did not invent anything, but Charles Drew was an American surgeon that pioneered the field of blood storage and transfusions.
