Apparently early Christians believed that the resurrection showed that Jesus was God's physical son and that the concept of resurrection was more than metaphorical it was actually physical.

....................................................................................

The early Christians believed

the resurrection was the proof of the atoning character of the death of Christ, and of His Deity (Romans 1:4)

the resurrection was one of the characteristic features of the gospel, proving to the hearers the assurance of the divine redemption (1Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 4:25)

the resurrection is regarded as the source and standard of the holiness of the believer. Every aspect of the Christian life from the beginning to the end is somehow associated therewith (Rom 6)

the resurrection was the guaranty and model of the believer's resurrection

(1 Corinthians 15). As the bodies of the saints arose (Matthew 27:52), so Christians are to be quickened (Romans 8:11), and made like Christ's glorified body (Philippians 3:21), thereby becoming spiritual bodies (1Corinthians 15:44), that is, bodies ruled by their spirits and yet bodies.

This a basic outline of New Testament teaching concerning the doctrine of the resurrection of Christ.

John 11:23,24 (Jesus right before he resurrected Lazarus) "Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day."

Acts 24:15 (Paul's words in his defense to the Governor Felix) "And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust."

Revelation 20:13 (John's vision of the resurrection Martha and Paul were referring to) "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works."

They believed the resurrection would be a future event and placed hope that death was not the end for humans.

Some Christian religions teach that the resurrection will strictly be in heaven and some teach that it will be right here on Earth in a future paradise. Some religions teach there will be 2 resurrections, one for a ruling holy class (or saints) in heaven, and one for everyone else on the Earth in paradise.

Revelation 20:6 "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years."

How do people celebrate the arrest and trial of Jesus?

As far as I know the arrest and trial of Christ is not celebrated. But may Christians believe that Easter is the celebration of Christ's resurrection after His crucifixion. But Easter is just a pagen holiday incorporated into the early Church. In reality, it is the worship of the sun god, hence, Easter Sunrise services. It is yet another way in which the Roman Catholic Church has validated and encouraged Christians world wide to embrace pagen rituals.
