What is the animal for knowledge in Maori tradition?
The Human was endowed with the gift of knowledge. [Exerpt from M.Shirres] Traditional Maori thinking presents us with three sources of knowledge. First there is the experience of our senses. Secondly there is our understanding of what lies behind our sense experience. Thirdly there is the experience we have, particularly in ritual, of our oneness with each other and with the past. These three sources of knowledge are spoken of as the three baskets of knowledge brought done from the heavens. According to most Maori traditions it was Taane, the spiritual power responsible for the trees and the birds and the spiritual power who separated Rangi and Papa, Heaven and Earth, who climbed to the highest heaven and brought back the three baskets, or kete, of knowledge. [End of Exerpt M.Shirres] REFER TO Michael Shirres' Maori Theology page for more info. Quite well written and, indeed, a very interesting, perhaps even enlightened, culture.

Is soil a solid or liquid?
This exerpt was taken from a Wikipedia Article titled Soil Mechanics. "Soil mechanics is a branch of engineering mechanics that describes the behavior of soils. It differs from fluid mechanics and solid mechanics in the sense that soils consist of a heterogeneous mixture of fluids (usually air and water) and particles (usually clay, silt, sand, and gravel) but soil may also contain organic solids, liquids, and gasses and other matter." Asked in Sisters Grimm
What does the book of everafter do?
The Book of Everafter holds all the stories of all Everafters. People can, in a way, enter the book, as long as they become part of one of the stories. There are "doors" at the end of each of the stories. These doors lead to other stories. People who enter the book have to follow the story they are in; they cannot change anything. The Book of Everafter is maintained by the Editor and his army of Revisors, who all make sure that all the stories work, even when people enter them. I'm not sure about all of this; this is just what I managed to guess from reading an exerpt of the 8th Sisters Grimm book. Sorry if it turns out that anything's wrong.
Asked in Non-English Names Pronunciation
How do you pronounce maia?
It is my opinion that it should be pronounced May-ah. Since all words with 'ai' in the english language make an 'ay' sound, why would this be any different? ie rain, stain, pain, main - then change the 'n' to an 'a' and you get maia (pronounced may-ah). Many people pronounce it as my-ah and I don't understand why they read it like that... 'ai' = 'ay' not 'eye' in the English language... Please see this exerpt from The Pronounciation of English Consonants and Vowels by M. Ansell ai For example, rain. ai is often pronounced like "ei" as in pinyin "mei". Granted it may be different in other languages...

Asked in Musical Instruments, Vuvuzela
How did the vuvuzela become so popular?
Exerpt from CNN: However, their presence at football matches in South Africa dates back to the late 1980s according to Philani Mabaso, the communication officer for Durban-based Premier Soccer League side AmaZulu FC, formerly known as Zulu Royals. Mabaso told CNN that his club may have been the first to have a vuvuzela on its terrace. "The first match I saw one there was in 1987 when AmaZulu played Jomo Cosmos, there was a man with a big, metal vuvuzela," he said. "Most of our supporters are members of the Shembe church, which is very prominent in our province. They would come from their congregation straight to the match. I think we were one of the first, if not the first, because of this."
Asked in Sisters Grimm
What is the book or everafter in the sisters grimm book 7 the everafter war?
The Book of Everafter is the book that has EVERY SINGLE fairy-tale in existence. If you wanted to, you could change all of them. Only a Grimm can open the door where it's held, but anyone can open it. In the end, Sabrina,Daphne and Puck get sucked into The Wizard of Oz, I feel sorry for Oz though....So it's basically a huge magical book that could potentially change history. The Book of Everafter holds all the stories of all Everafters. People can, in a way, enter the book, as long as they become part of one of the stories. There are "doors" at the end of each of the stories. These doors lead to other stories. People who enter the book have to follow the story they are in; they cannot change anything.
