Roberta Bondar has made a pretty big contribution to Canada. She was the first Canadian woman in space. Not only was she an astronaut, but a neurologist, consultant and speaker in the business, scientific, and medical communities. Bondar has received many honors including the Order of Canada, the Order of Ontario, the NASA Space Medal, over 22 honorary degrees and known to the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. Bondar served two terms as the Chancellor of Trent University, from 2003 to 2009.
