∙ 11y agoThe Truman Doctrine--a policy of supporting anticommunist regimes with military and economic aid. The Doctrine was first used in support of democratic governments in Greece and Turkey. It's purpose was to protect US interests abroad and prevent communism from taking over more areas in Europe and Asia. It was intended to aid other areas so the US would not have to increasingly depend on the US Military to fight.
