What did the US do as a nation to help Vietnam verterans?

most troops that got off airplanes and means of travel were met by angry anti war protestors, who would spit on the soldiers, be called murderers and mobbed. They were never honored like ww2 veterans. all they got was a wall dedicated to honor the dead and missing. so if you see a veteran then thank them
