That all depends on the age of the twins. If they were young (infants - 13) they were seen as "useless" and were killed. If they were old enough and strong enough, they worked. Most likely, though, the twins would be separated and sent to different camps.

∙ 14y agoThe overall aim of the Nazis was to create a Master Race in the image of the Nordic gods, which is from whom Hitler believed the Germans were directly descended. If you could breed in multiples: twins, quads, why not breed in groups of 20 at a time? This was what Huxley satirized so brilliantly in Brave New World.
The person responsible for the dreadful experiments on twins and triplets was Josef Mengele who liked to experiment (without anesthetic) on twins because he had a natural control subject in the twin who was not experimented on. Or you could do the same experiment on both twins (say by adding a chemical to a brown eyed pair to see if one or the other would react by having their eyes change to blue, which was one of the defining qualities of the SuperNazi).

If you have a strong stomach for such things, you might get hold of a copy of the book Medical Block Buchenwald, which was where Mengele amused himself (with virtually no useful medical information coming from all his terrible and manifestly useless experimentation). The poster above is correct, but not correct in the last sentence. As tragic and horrific as these experiments were Mengele left notes and after WW2 ended scientists from the U.S. got a hold of some of these notes regarding twins and found some great useful information on understanding twins, but the difference with the U.S. isthey didn't do disgusting experimentation on twins. To this day, as much as a monster Megele was he did provide some good information to understand more about the birth of twins and the connection identical twins had towards each other.
