Towards the Kaaba in Mecca. In the US, that's to the east. In Japan, it's to the west. Etc., etc.
Muslims pray facing the Qibla i.e. Kaaba in Makkah in Saudi Arabia.
This is called 'Keblah' in Arabic. All Muslims ,when praying, are required to face the direction to Mecca (or Makkah), or more precisely the direction to Kaba, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Mihrab (Arabic: محراب‎ miḥrāb, pl.محاريب maḥārīb) is a semicircular nichein the wall of a mosque that indicates the qibla; that is, the direction of theKaaba in Mecca and hence the direction that Muslims should face when praying. The wall in which amihrab appears is thus the "qiblawall."Mihrabs should not be confused with the minbar, which is the raised platform from which an Imam (leader of prayer) addresses the congregation.
The Mihrab is a marker or niche in a mosque that indicates the proper direction fro the worshippers to face while praying. It points toward Mecca which is the site of the Kaaba toward which all Muslims must face during prayer.
Qiblah means "direction". I it known in Islam as the direction one faces to pray during salah. In a mosque, the mihrab indicates Qiblah
To face it during praying (Salah or Salat)Answer:The mihrab is an Architectural device, which has no holiness attached to it, and is simply used to show which direction to face so that one is oriented towards the House of Abraham in Mecca. It is in the shape of a half-circle so as to help project the voice of the person leading the prayer back behind. That way, the people following the prayer behind him (or her, if it is a case of a woman leading other women in the prayer) can better hear the recitation.Facing towards one direction for prayer is not something particular to the mission of Muhammad (peace be upon him). It was done by the people before him, as well. God commanded the Jews to face towards the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
Mihrab- a niche in a house of worship indicating the direction of Mecca 8===D
It is small curve in the front wall of the mosque. It save one line of the prayer. The Imam stands outside the Mihrab but he offers sijdah inside the Mihrab.
They dont have a particular direction, they can face any direction.
An about-face is an abrupt turn to face in the opposite direction, or a complete reversal of attitude, opinion or direction.
