Christianity is about belief and faith. it is really more a matter of faith. also, it requires a change of lifestyle. Christians make more since. Christianity is the only religion that has a bible traced back to 6000 years ago. it has the world's oldest living book! this book also holds prophesies that have been fulfilled, such as Israel coming back after being destroyed about 2000 years earlier. some prophesies are not yet fulfilled yet.

Definitions

A Jew is someone born Jewish or who had a formal conversion according to Jewish law.

A non-Jew who believes in the Hebrew Bible doesn't thereby become Jewish.

More Details

In terms of belief, believing in the Tanakh (the Jewish Bible that is roughly the Old Testament) is not sufficient to become Jewish for a variety of reasons.

Interpretation of the Old Testament:The primary issue is that the Tanakh can come with numerous different interpretations. According to Judaism the proper way to read The Bible is in conjunction with the Oral Law, which consists of numerous books that analyze the general application of the tradition over the centuries. For example, the Bible says: 8 Tie them [the commandments] as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. This could theoretically be read many different ways. It could require you to have a hat and gloves with a strap that hold the commandments, it could be metaphoric, etc. The Oral Law explains that this verse refers to black boxes containing parchment of specific sections of the Torah and is bound to hand with strips of black leather. It is accepting the Tanakh in conjunction with the Oral Law that focuses the words of the Tanakh. A Gentile who believes in the Old Testament does not necessarily hold to the words of the Tanakh as focused by the Oral Law.

Noahide: Jews believe that they were given a unique relationship with God that requires them to perform 613 commandments, whereas the rest of the world is required to perform only 7 commandments called the Noahide Laws. The difference here is that the obligation for Gentile is much less than the obligation of a Jew. Therefore a Gentile would meet his Divine Obligations following the Old Testament more easily than a Jew would, meaning that they are different.

Rabbinical Judaism: Judaism is not a static religion; it has made some changes over the last 2300 years. This has included new holidays ordained by the Rabbis like Purim and Hanukkah, new fast days like Tzum Gedalia and 17 Tammuz, and additional prohibitions to "create a fence around the Torah" such as the prohibition of mixing white meat with dairy and the concept of moksa. Just believing in the Old Testemant would not account for these changes in Jewish ritual behavior.

Christians believe that Jesus is the real God who came into this world to atone all people's sins, was crucified and resurrected from the dead. These concepts, and in fact the majority of the tenets of Christianity are diametrically opposed to the teachings of Judaism.

The founders of Christianity based the religion on the rejection of Judaism. From their perspective, Christianity was to replace Judaism.

Needs a little more context - especially time and location. There are a plethora of possible answers to this, depending on whether you mean middle England (Jews continually persecuted, unless local landowners used them as cash cows); Nazi German (even more shockingly delineated) or modern Israel (no discernible difference in lifestyle and societal role)
