They are exactly the same as all other Bettas in their food and accomodation requirements. Specialized Betta foods are available at most pet shops and in the better pet shops so are some suitable live foods (brine shrimp, daphnia etc) that you can give the fish as a weekly treat to vary its diet. In nature Bettas are insectivorous.

When your Betta fish is fasting it means it is not eating, this usually happens after the Betta has bred and it will not eat until all the Betta eggs are hatched.
If the fish is still getting used to it's surroundings, it might not eat. This is normal. Usually if betta fish are comfortable, they will eat as soon as they smell or see the food.
