um... sugar.
tip: buy sweet chocolate. it's probably cheaper anyways.
One does not make semi sweet chocolate by adding sugar to a square of unsweetened chocolate. One purchases the type of chocolate required by the recipe.
1 square is 1 ounce.
It looks like any other square of milk or dark chocolate.
86 semi-sweet chocolate chips equals 3 squares of semi-sweet baking chocolate.
There isn't much of a difference but semi sweet is less likely to burn and is not as sweet as milk chocolate. Hope this helps!
Well, 75% and up is considered dark, bitter chocolate. So, something a little under 75% cacao will be semi-sweet chocolate ;)
Yes no difference.
Yes.

Yes you can. Dark chocolate and semi-sweet have essentially the same consistency, and therefore bake at about the same rate.
I just found something that says 3 squares equals 86 chocolate chips.... so that would be about 29 chocolate chips for 1 square!!! Happy Baking!
