Swazis' staple food is lipalishi which is a starch dish. It is like hard-like porridge. It is usually eaten with meat, umbhidvo(green leaves usually mixed with crushed peanuts or potatoes) or emasi-thick sour milk.

There are many other foods like sidvudvu(pumpkins mixed with soft porridge), umncushu(samp and beans), tinhlumaya(very small beans), ligusha(okre, usually eaten with lipalishi). Swazis love maize and meat. Cows or goats are usually slaughtered during big events like in ritual ceremonies.

They eat incwanwa(sour porridge) or indengane(very soft porridge which nowadays is eaten with milk, butter or peanut butter and sugar) for breakfast.
