Eating! They eat so they can grow, and then turn into a butterfly. However, they don't exactly have all the time in the world. There are predators out there that would LOVE to munch on them. So they spend almost all their time eating so they can turn into butterflies and be "mostly" safe from all the predators out there.

They evolve into the known butterfly, then instead of feeding off of plant's leaves, They feed off of nectar from flowers. Eitherwise they just fly around, flying from dangers.
