To reach another planet, the simplest method, but wasteful of fuel, would be to head straight for it. More complex techniques, such as gravitational slingshots, can be more fuel-efficient, though they may require the probe to spend more time in transit. A technique using very little propulsion, but possibly requiring a considerable amount of time, is to follow a trajectory on the Interplanetary Transport Network.

A space probe is a scientific space exploration mission in which a robotic spacecraft leaves the gravity well of Earth and approaches the Moon or enters interplanetary or interstellar space.Once a probe has left the vicinity of Earth, its trajectory will likely take it along an orbit around the Sun similar to the Earth's orbit. To reach another planet, the simplest method is to execute a maneuver. More complex techniques, such as gravitational slingshots, can be more efficient, though they may require the probe to spend more time in transit. A technique using very little NANA, but possibly requiring a considerable amount of time, is to follow a trajectory on the Interplanetary Transport Network.

Communications with space probes is done via electromagnetic radiation, or "radio waves" or radio frequency (RF) energy. This RF is in the microwave band, which is at the upper end of what we call radio waves. We use microwaves because (compared to lower frequency RF) they have a greater data carrying capacity (information per unit of time), and the equipment used to transmit them, particularly the antennas, is better suited to the purpose of "aiming" the signal. Directing a signal as we do increases what is called gain in the system. We use a dish (parabolic reflector) to transmit almost all the energy in one direction, which gives us gain (an increase of signal strength). We also use the dish to capture the faint returning signal, just as a reflecting telescope captures the tiny amount of light from a distance star. Again, it's a gain thing. Additionally, the use of microwaves is best for the probe, too. It has limited power, and we need to keep its mass low yet keep it functional. All the problems we have with communication are compounded in space. Microwaves are the best solution to the problem.

Space probes gather information by taking pictures and by sending data back for study. The probes receive commands from space centers on Earth to send back the information that they gathered.

I think that they collect different samples of water and rocks if you are on a non gas planet. If you are on a gas planet then you might collect samples of the different types of gases.

Space Probes land very carefully, usually with a parachute. I looked it up on different sites, and that is what I came up with!

Are rovers like space probes?

Rovers are a type of space probe. Space probes are any robotic mechanism sent out of Earth's atmosphere to explore and gather information.

How are probes used to explore space?

A space probe is what scientist mainly rely on to gather new information about the solar system

What information about planets can space probes gather that cannot be obtained by telescope?

There are many ways space probes can do that telescopes cannot such as sampling bacteria on that planet for traces of any sort of life, etc

Why are space probes sent in space?

To gather information using either X-ray, UV rays, and such to further our knowledge on the unknown universes out there.

What have space probes helped us learn about odjects in your solar system?

By sending space probes into the solar system and beyond, we are able to gather information close to planets that we would not be able to obtain through observations from earth. The probes are able to take and transmit pictures back to earth which are much more detailed. We have been able to detect objects we would not see from the earth and are able to gather more detailed information on the atmospheric composition and properties of various planets and moons.
