Well i can definitly answer this coming from a hudge twilight fan~ 1)Twlight-Apple- This means that the apple represents the forbidden fruit. it represents the forbidden love between Bella and Edward. 2)New Moon-Ribbon- This means that the relationship between Bella and edwrad is very close and that he runs away from her, in which the falling petal. 3)Eclipse-Ribbon- The tearing ribbon represents choice. Bella has to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob. she can't decide therefore the ribbon is tearing. 4)Breaking Dawn-Chess Peice-The red pawn in the background represents Bella as a human. she's weak, warm, and she blushes a lot. The white queen in the front represents Bella as a vampire. she's strong, cold, hard, and pale. it represents her transition into a new life as a vampire with Edward forever! I hope i could help with those if you have anymore questions please ask me! Thanks~

Yes. Logos or pictures of chess pieces can be copyrighted. For instance, the book covers of "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer or "Breaking Dawn" by Stephanie Meyer display chess pieces, and are copyrighted.
it doesn't mean or relate to anything. It is just a cool picture for the cover. unless anyone esle can think of some better explaination.
the cover of breaking dawn looks like a chess piece. You can look at the official cover here... http://luinriel.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/breakingdawn.jpg :D all the breaking dawn books have hard covers. the soft covers didn't come out yet.
The chess piece on the cover of "Breaking Dawn" represents the character Bella, who is torn between different choices and facing important decisions. The broken pawn symbolizes her transformation and the challenges she must overcome.
In "Breaking Dawn," the metaphor of Bella's transformation into a vampire symbolizes personal growth and empowerment. Additionally, the idea of Jacob's imprinting on Renesmee can be seen as a metaphor for fate and unconditional love. These metaphors help to convey deeper themes of transformation and destiny in the novel.

a chess game with the qween in the front
The chess game represents the ending of the book, that the Volturi were dealt with logically, instead of bloodshed, because chess is an entirely mental game. The chess pieces represent Bella: The red pawn is her when she's human, as she was the weakest character, and the pawn is the lesser of all the chess pieces. The white queen is her when she's a vampire, when she gains the ability to shield others, resulting in the Volturi's retreat - making her a very powerful character, hence the portrayal of a queen chess piece.
