Monks or Friars.
Diocesian priests usually live in a Rectory, a house provided by the parish of which they are the priest. Religious priests either live in a monastery, or a house owned by their Order unless they are serving in a diocese, in which case they live in a Rectory.

The number of occupants will depend upon the size of the monastery. A monastery is a housing unit for monks.

Monks and Friars live in a monastery. Nuns and cloistered women live in monasteries as well, not to be confused with convents.

An abbey, or a priory, although a priory is not a true monastery but a smaller settlement that is an offshoot of the main monastery, but could be classed as a 'monastery. as it is still a place where monks live in community.
A monastery is a place where nuns and/or monks live. Some of the nuns devote their lives to God so they only live and work inside the monastery instead of a working as a teacher or other profession outside the monastery.
Irish monks did and do live in Ireland in a Monastery.
