Generally, they could be called a "musician". Or for example: a "guitarist" plays a guitar. A "pianist" plays a piano. An "organist" plays the organ. A "violinist" plays the violin. A "harpist" plays the harp. A "drummer" plays the drums! An example now: "South Jersey's premier musician, Darin Geltzer, is one heck of a guitarist!"
