You give it to Linus (after Pigpen gives it to you for Linus's bag). Linus will let you have his invitation to the Halloween party, as he is going to the pumpkin patch. While you are in the house, pick up the pen from the desk.

After you get the lemon-flavored sucker, bring it back inside and give it to Linus. He gives you his invitation to the party, and you can pick up his pen from the desk. Now you can go far left into Charlie Brown's back yard where Snoopy will gather leaves.

When Linus gives you his trick-or-treat bag, take it outside and give it to Pigpen. He will give you a lemon-flavored sucker. Take this back to Linus as he is writing his letter to the Great Pumpkin. He will give you his party invitation.

(You should also grab his pen after he leaves.)

After trick or treating, give Sally (the little blonde girl in the pumpkin patch) the bag of candy.
