What should you do if your girlfriend all of a sudden wants to take a break?

Ever watch Friends? So do you want to break up? If not, then accept the break and ask her how long she wants a break for and what a break means? Does it mean date other people? Does it mean stop all communication for a period of time? Clarify everything. If you would rather break up, then do it. Tell her you would rather not be put on hold and just break up. Another thing: if she is doing this it may be a sign that something is bothering her that she cannot discuss because she's uncomfortable with it, unsure about it, afraid of it, etc... It is possible that she still likes you in this case and simply does not know how to fix the problem so she decides to avoid it instead by taking a break so that the relationship can survive while her issue(s) go away. To check for this ask her if anything is wrong. Do some reflection and see if you can guess the issues she may have yourself. See if you have similar issues. Bring them up first and see if there can be a HEART TO HEART relationship saving conversation instead of a break up. Unfortunately, this always means the relationship is on very thin ice. Toe the line. Give her space if she needs it. 90% of men force a relationship to end by doing TOO MUCH when the girl is needing SPACE, because it is a male instinct to try harder if something isn't working... Last thing-she isn't the last girl of her quality...so if it fails then remind yourself another will come along and that every guy goes through this kind of thing many times. It's a part of life.

Actually it could be a good thing if you are in your mid-teens. There is so much of life ahead of you. Love is as important to teens as adults and it can hurt more when younger. However too much of anything is good for nothing. Your girlfriend probably wants some head space to decide what she wants in life and perhaps date a little more. Although this is painful to you, you should take the same chance as well. Communicate with your girlfriend and simply ask her why. This way you are clear on things. Lack of communication causes most of the problems in this world. Breaking up is hard to do, but I've heard of many young people doing this and getting back together further down the road. You take care of "you" and start getting out with friends, perhaps go on a small holiday with friends and get back in the dating circuit again. Life is one big adventure.

I, myself, am a female teen, so I can answer this question from the correct perspective. You need to ask her why, but not try to cling to her too much. A little is better, because then she at least sees that you care enough to try and keep your relationship going, but too much and you'll be clingy, which a girl will dislike unless she is also clingy. If she does go through with the break through, give her some time, and try again. Not too much time though, again, because girls are always on the prowl ;)

just give her a break, dont keep hounding on her and talking to her and saying sorry because most of the time, if a guy does that wen a girl needs a break it just makes their relationship weaker. but if you leave the girl alone it will most likely improve your relationship ..... but wen your on the break do not! go and find another girlfriend because to girls it is still considered cheating
