I'm no expert, but I recently had a pinched nerve in my neck. My advice would definitely be to go to a doctor, chiropractor, or osteopath, etc because depending on where exactly the nerve is, the treatment is different - and if you don't get it treated properly, the nerve will die (after a long while I think) and you won't be able to feel the part of your body it connected to.

Anyway, I went to a chiropractor, and she adjusted my neck to make sure every thing was properly aligned, and then instructed me to do the following:

  • Ice the affected area for ONLY 20 minutes, once ever hour (I just wrap an icepack/bag of vegetables around my neck). I'm supposed to do this for the next 4 days or so and if the pain (and numbness maybe in your case) doesn't go away, see her again.
  • And take an anti-inflammatory pill, like Aleave (I think) or ibuprofen (which is a NSAID -- Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug). I think Advil is made of the same exact thing as ibuprofen so that works too. Make sure it's OK for you to take these kinds of pills though by asking a doctor -- I researched Ibuprofen once and it has A LOT of possible side effects, many of which are rather scary.

The reason for icing and the pill is to reduce the inflammation caused by the nerve being pinched, and this is supposed to relieve the nerve, I believe (again, I'm not an expert).

Anyway, make sure you see a professional for your specific case because it may not be the same as mine.

I would first recommend making a doctors appointment. When I had a pinched nerve they used this special machine to pinpoint the spot of origin. Afterwards, I had many weeks of physical treatment therapy. Also, you could try buying the stretch bands, they come in different resistant levels...can find them at Modells, or anyplace that sells sporting equipment...thats pretty much what I used at therapy..as well as included some Massage Therapy...

There are several options. One is to go on a regimen of anti-inflammatory and using a sling to relieve some of the pain. Physical therapy and cortisone shots are the next step. For extreme cases there is surgery where part of the spine is removed to relieve pressure on the nerve.

If you have a pinched nerve in the neck, you should visit a chiropractor. I had a pinched nerve and I didn't see a chiropractor, but it went away. If you can't afford a visit or don't want to go, just do what I did and lay in bed all day and not move your neck. I will feel like intense pain and may be sore the next couple of days but I would rather do that then pay the ridiculous prices of 1 chiropractor visit. You probably got the pinched nerve because you slept on it differently, or did something out of the ordinary lately. Hope this helps!!

When you have pinched nerve in your neck that time you have do smooth exercise. Also do the massage of neck. But you have to do this very carefully.

You must be take a rest.

Answer:

Pinched nerves can have many causes. Many people try home exercises or cures and often the nerve pain disappears within days or weeks which it would have done anyway. However home remedies may provide the wrong effect and worsen the problem or mask an underlying medical condition. A medical doctor or physiotherapist should be consulted.

There are various ways to treat a pinched nerve in one's neck. A temporary repreive would be to massage the area which should reduce the pain for a time. The best action would be to visit the doctor who may recommend a nerve block. This would reduce the pain by injecting the nerve area to reduce the spasms which cause the pain.

Visit a Chiropractor. A pinched nerve is the result of a spine subluxation, correctible by manipulation of the spine. Both Chiropractors and Osteopaths can help a pinched nerve.

Can a pinched nerve in the neck cause electrical shocks in the brain?

Pinched nerves usually cause symptoms either in their immediate vicinity or downstream (in an arm due to a pinched nerve in the neck area). It is highly unlikely that "weird sensations in the brain" would result from a pinched nerve. However, pain and anxiety associated with a pinched nerve could make a person feel uncomfortable and unlike his or her usual self.

What is the best medicine for a pinched nerve in your neck that causes bad migraines?

Migraines are a genetic neurologic disease - the cause is in your genes. However, a pinched nerve in the cervical spine area (neck) can trigger Migraine attacks in people with the genetic capacity for them. Usually the best way to begin to manage Migraines is to find and eliminate triggers. In this case, that would include the pinched nerve. Depending upon the nature of the pinched nerve, it may be possible for a pain management specialist to do a nerve block procedure that might be helpful in at least temporarily eliminating or improving this trigger. This nerve block injection will contain a numbing agent and usually a corticosteroid.
