you cannot stop someone from getting a divorce from you. the best thing is to get documentation of the affair and go to a lawyer and file first. it is over, and just face the fact that it is. i didn't and am now in a divorce without the upper hand. i should have filed first.

I think you can't file a divorce, I mean there's no valid reason why you will divorce a good wife.

If somebody files for divorce, the other person will be served with papers most likely prepared by a lawyer. They must then answer those papers within a certain timeframe. They can attest the divorce, but eventually it would go through. Nobody has to stay married to somebody that they don't want to.
