What do you do with the mushroom in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl?

I don't believe that the mushrooms have any real effect in the game. I think they are just there to help you get money by selling them to the PokeMart. I don't know if there useful but I know the pkmn Parasect holds those sometimes.

Simple

when you get the first 3 islands, go to island 2. next to the wireless adapter game corner there should be a house. go in side and talk to the guy. you can either give him 2 tinymushrooms or 1 bigmushroom. either way when you give it to him he can teach a Pokemon in your current party various moves that it already learned before to moves that are unique. try it out. hope this helped.

If you mean the Tiny and Big Mushrooms, there is no purpose for them other than 'vendor trash', meaning that they sell high at Poke Marts.
Nothing really. They're just there to be sold for a profit.

you can sell the big mushroom for 2500 gold and the small mushroom for 250 gold and in Pokemon leafgreen and firered if you give them to a man he lets your Pokemon relearn a move but in Pokemon pearl and diamond we use heart scales

You can sell them to any shopkeeper. I think they go for around $1000, maybe only $500. Not too much money, anyway.
