You can't run this light on a 120V circuit and get the same light output if it is designed to run on a 240V service. You need a voltage converter transformer. They are a common item sold for international travel. The difference in frequency shouldn't affect the light.

Can I use a 120v rated bulb in a 240v socket on a 120v circuit?

yes

Can you tap into a 240V circuit to get 120V?

On a pure 240V circuit, no. There is no neutral. On a 240/120V circuit, yes. You have the needed neutral. Tapping 120volts off an existing 240volt branch circuit with a neutral is possible but is not a proper method. It does not comply with most electrical codes.

Why is there no neutral in a 240V circuit?

You have three feed wires on US residential service: 2 hots and neutral. These wires are connected to a 240V center tapped transformer with the neutral connected to the center tap. So, you have 120V between either hot and neutral and 240V between the hots. There is no neutral in this circuit because the load doesn't require 120V, it draws 240V directly from both hots.

How do you upgrade from 120V 15A to 120V 20A or from 240V 20A to 240V 30A?

You have to replace the wire (as you are increasing the current capacity), the outlet, and the breaker. Essentially you have to remove the old circuit and put in a new one. You can't reuse parts of the old circuit as you are increasing the current capacity and they would be underrated.

How do you plug two separate but stackable washer and dryer with one needing 240V and the other needing 120V into one 240V outlet?

You DON'T! The washer needs to be on a separate dedicated circuit; 120v, 20 amps. The dryer needs to be on a 240 V, 30 amp dedicated circuit. Trying to do otherwise is unsafe.

What takes less energy 120v or 240v?

120V takes less energy

How much voltage should be in 2pole circuit breaker?

In America, a 2-pole breaker is controlling 240V. 120V per leg.

Can you run a 120V heater with a 240V supply?

Definitely not - it would burn out quickly and probably cause the circuit breaker to trip as well.

Can GFCI circuit breaker handle a 240V circuit with a 120V circuit sub-paneled off if it?

I don't know if you are trying to ask if you can run a 240V panel off a GFCI or run a 120 V sub panel off of a GFCI. Can you clarify please,,,Thanks

Would a 30A 240V circuit breaker be too large to safely support a either a 20A or 23A 240V bandsaw?

Yes it will operate it fine.

Can a 120V Generator run 240V machines?

No

Can 240V washer run on 120V outlet?

No.

You are building a new house and trying to decide between 120v and 240v which is better More practical?

In the US, both 120v and 240v will be needed for your home, as different appliances need different voltages. Your TV needs 120V, while your electric dryer and stove will need a 120V/240V supply. If you have an electric water heater, or central AC unit, they will need a 240V supply.

What is the normal voltage of house clectricity in the US?

120v or 240v. 120v is one leg of the main panel, and 240 is two legs of the main panel. 120v is lights, outlets. 240v, dryer, stove.

Why are you not getting 240v between the two hot wires?

Because they are "in-phase". In order to get 240v, you need two 120v Alternating Current lines that are 180° out of phase, that is, opposite phases. Only when one line is +120v and the other -120v will you see 240v between the wires.

How can you convert a 240v clothes dryer to 120v can you use to different outlettes?

You cannot use 2-120v outlets to power a 240v dryer. You can convert a 240v dryer outlet to power 2-120v outlets if they are supplied with a neutral. This requires a competent electrician. Do not do this yourself.

Can you run your neon sign of 120v 50hz 60hz 0.6a 7.5kv 30mA in an Australian 240v power outlet?

No. The neon sign is fed by a step-up transformer. Primary side 120V, secondary side 7500V. If you applied 240 to the primary side you would get 15000 volts on the neon tube. A flash over and then nothing. If you can find a transformer from 120V to 240V or 240V to 120V then you are good to go. Connect 240V to 240V side and you will get 120V out the other, connect the 120V side to the neon sign and you should have light. Transformer should be at least 100va. This will give you an output of .83 amps at 120V

If your air conditioner is 120V but the outlet is 240V can you convert from 240V to 120V and how?

If the 220V circuit is dedicated, is to derate the circuit to a dedicated 110V outlet. Replace the 220V breaker with a 110V breaker and install a 110V outlet in place of the 220V outlet. If the original circuit was 20A or greater go with a 20A breaker and a 20A outlet as Airconditioners are fairly large loads. Do not exceed the current rating of the old circuit as that is all the current the existing wiring can handle.

How can you wire 120V to 240V?

A far as I know, you can't. If a wire is used in a 120v circuit, the wire itself is only rated up to 15 amps, therefore it can't carry a full load without tripping the breaker.

If you put a 60W 120V bulb in a 120V lamp that has a transformer for 240V and plug it into a 240V outlet will it work or blow the circuitry?

Off hand no but your explanations are not clear as to who is doing what to whom,,
