I think she is a little selfish about her definition of what he should be, but also very creative and determined to find something to be that includes the other. And in the end she chooses to be something, and let him decide for himself, even though in other choices he didn't seem to allow her the same freedom (not letting her grow). She seems independent and flexible in learning how to work things out.
