Any flea topical from the vet works great. Revolution, Frontline Plus, advantix (not to be used in homes with cats) or advantage.
I recently fostered a dog covered in lice. Non-zoonotic, I wasn't concerned about me or my home being infested. Lice live on their host only. She received flea baths every other day for 3 weeks. The flea shampoo (containing pyrethrins) was in a sink full of water like dish water. She was combed every day with a flea comb. Although the nits hatch after 10 days of being laid, who knows when they were laid which is why I gave a "dip" every other day.
It worked fine.
Prevention is key. So monthly topicals from the vet are best.

DOWN. only use one word commands, not "damn it dog your pissing me off. go lay down" just "down"

∙ 13y agoi suggest any kind of hypo-allergenic powder or you can use dogspray which drives away fleas. Because fleas are the reason why dogs itch, i think. hope it works because it does on my dog. She is a chow-chow and her fur is absolutely thick.

∙ 12y agoYou need to take your dog in to be checked out by your Veterinarian. That is the only way to do this properly for your dog's sake. Make sure you are feeding a good name brand of dog food & not some cheap generic food. Ingredients such as corn, wheat, soy, etc. can cause skin Allergies.
