The biggest challenge I think is misplaced or hidden merchandise. The in-stocks role requires the products to be in their home location. To account for over-abudance of a certain product in the backroom or constant outage in both backroom and sales floor, you have to be able to scan the product into research and denote how many products are there. If the shelf calls for a quantity of 5 and there are none, that needs to be noted; likewise if 9 in a slot for 5 needs to be noted. Products being misplaced, hidden behind others(not restocked properly), or otherwise in the store but not on the shelf can all affect accurate in stock research.
