you should tell your mom that she doesnt have to worry about the puppy dying because if you get a puppy it will be there for 18-25 years dependiing on the breed. You could tell her its a good way for you to earn more responsibility researching breeds and looking at shelter pages. if you have brothers and sisters you can say it is a good way to bond better. i was able to convince my mom to get a yorkie by doing this. Or you can ask her to look at what kind of dog you want by googling the breed and pressing on images. no matter what breed you want ADORABLE pictures always come up. Maybe you can get your mom to fall in love with the breed and she will start researching breeders from where you live. If she still says no to a puppy because she doesn't want it to die, you can just remind her that your family can get another puppy. You also said your mom is still upset about her puppy that died when she was little. you can reming her that her dog has been gone for a while and will always be gone and that you want the experience of taking care of a puppy too.
