For me American Bison live in a cold places not in the places that is too much cold like Alaska, because of the thick layer of skin of the bison they can survive in a cold places

they can also live in a grass type places so that they can find food easily....

That depends on which species of buffalo you are referring to. Woodland Bison, such as those in Yellowstone and surrounding areas, prefer a mixed habitat of semi-open woodlands and open meadows, usually at higher elevations. Others prefer the open grassland prairies of the central and west US. buffalo were at one time found in almost all regions of the continental US.
