sores Canker sores are either inside of the mouth (lip or cheek
area) and is tiny and looks like a fever blister (it's actually a
small ulcer with a white or gray base and red border.) It is caused
by a virus, stress or biting one's cheek or from a jagged tooth. It
IS NOT contagious! Stay away from acidy foods or drinks such as
tomatoes, lemons, limes, pineapple, etc., or fruit juices. Rinse
your mouth out with an antibacterial mouth wash or, warm salted
water (swish around in your mouth and spit out.) This should be
done 4 - 5 times a day. The canker can last from 4 - 14 days.
A canker sore appears on the inside of the lips and the cheeks, the gums and even the tongue. It usually has a round shape and is often white, sometimes surrounded by a red halo. It is painful to the touch and the area might also feel slightly swollen.
